About the Artist: Robert Bowden became a professional artist upon graduation from Carnegie Institute of Technology (now Carnegie Mellon University) in 1954 with a Bfa. from the College of Fine Arts, Department of Painting and Design. He was at first an abstract painter but became interested in realism and began working in watercolor in the 1960's. His subject preferences are urban landscapes painted on location en plein air. On his artwork, Bowden states, "Searching for beauty for me and in my painting, means that I am always looking for that moment and place that has potential compositional interest, spatial ambiguities, color attraction and may even suggest some mystery once interpreted on my paper canvas."
